SEOUL – February 25, 2025: Spotify – the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service – has unveiled its Global Impact List, spotlighting the local artist tracks that had the greatest global impact in the second half of 2024.
The list recognizes the Top 30 tracks from South Korean artists with the biggest global impact on Spotify outside of South Korea. It takes into account global streams of tracks by South Korean artists released between July 1 and December 31, 2024, but excludes streaming in South Korea.
Global Powerhouses of K-Pop
K-Pop artists had the strongest impact outside of South Korea. Jimin’s “Who” was top track, followed by BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” at #2, and JENNIE’s “Mantra” at #3. Stray Kids secured #4 with “Chk Chk Boom“, while Jimin reappeared at #5 with “Be Mine.”
BTS members had a strong presence on the Global Impact List, with 10 out of 30 tracks. Alongside Jimin’s five solo entries, Jin secured three spots on the list with “Running Wild” (#6), “I’ll Be There” (#8), and “Super Tuna” (#23) while V ranked with “Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN)” (#9) and “White Christmas (with V of BTS)”(#26).
BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ also landed three placements on the list including “number one girl” (#13) and “toxic till the end” (#15). Stray Kids contributed four tracks in total, including “I Like It” (#20), “Come Play (from the series Arcane League of Legends)” (#21) and “JJAM” (#29). Meanwhile, aespa, KISS OF LIFE, ENHYPEN each claimed two spots on the list.
Rookie K-Pop Artists on the Rise
Spotify is also shining light on the global impact of emerging K-Pop groups, highlighting their increasing influence on the global music scene. Notably, BABYMONSTER and MEOVV, two groups that debuted in 2024, made the list with multiple tracks “FOREVER” (#11), “DRIP” (#17) by BABYMONSTER, and “MEOW” (#30) by MEOVV. BABYMONSTER was also announced as Spotify’s RADAR Korea artist last year, as part of Spotify’s RADAR initiative to discover and support emerging artists. The group received editorial support and a tailored promotional campaign, RADAR LIVE, to enhance their global exposure.
“The 2024 South Korean Music Global Impact List serves as a key indicator of Korean music’s ever-expanding global influence, spotlighting both established superstars and rising talents reshaping the industry,” said Jungjoo Park, Spotify’s Head of Music, South Korea. “It’s exciting to see groups like BABYMONSTER and MEOVV break into the global scene alongside veteran artists. As Korean artists continue reaching new audiences worldwide, we take pride in driving opportunities for Korean artists to solidify their presence on the global stage.”
