NORA ノラ, the first Italian V-idol, debuts in a visionary artistic project

Maga Animation Studio, in collaboration with Many Edizioni Musicali, presents an audiovisual production that merges art and technology in a unique fusion of creativity and innovation. At its heart is NORA, the first Italian virtual idol with a real human voice, performing a mashup of an original track and reimagined elements from an iconic 1985 hit. The vaporwave-inspired music video, crafted entirely by the Monza-based studio without the use of AI, is the result of a two-year artistic and technological journey.

From the intersection of music, animation, and technology emerges popstar NORA, the first made-in Italy virtual idol with a real voice. Her debut single, Beat of a Romance medley Cha Cha Cha, is a mashup that intertwines a brand-new composition with reinterpreted fragments of Cha Cha Cha, a legendary Italo dance anthem from 1985—bridging memory and future in a compelling dialogue.

The music video, steeped in vaporwave aesthetics and created entirely by Maga Animation Studio without generative AI, is the culmination of over two years of artistic exploration. NORA (whose full name is NORA ノラ, written in both Italian and Japanese, expressing its essence and strong connection with the culture of Japan) is not an algorithm, but the result of real human expertise: animators, musicians, designers, and performers have brought to life a digital icon that embodies human artistry in a virtual form.

“With NORA, we deliberately chose a path that runs counter to today’s trends in AI, automation, and machine learning,” says Massimo Carrier Ragazzi, CEO and creative director of Maga. “I’ve long wanted to develop a project that would allow us to merge our artistic and technological research with the world of music, crafted through a handmade approach true to our studio’s philosophy: a process guided by human thought, free from haste, where every detail is shaped with care, leaving room for freshness, enthusiasm, and deep dedication—embracing imperfections that make the project alive, human, as every organic work should be.”

The project was born from the collaboration between Maga Animation Studio, composer and producer Fabrizio Baldoni, and Many Edizioni Musicali, who combined artistic vision with sound experimentation. The track, written by Fabrizio Baldoni and Marco Martini and released on September 12th 2025 on major platforms through RNC Music distribution, celebrates the 40th anniversary of Cha Cha Cha, transforming its essence into a new electropop dimension, woven between past and present.

The music video narrates NORA’s journey and that of her alter egos through a dreamlike, post-digital realm—exploring identity, emotion, and movement. Every detail was crafted with an artisanal approach: from animation that restores humanity to gestures, to aesthetic choices that blend vaporwave and 1980s influences with a contemporary twist.

NORA’s debut is more than a musical release—it’s a creative manifesto, a pop icon that fuses technology with human sensitivity. In an increasingly automated world, it boldly asserts that art remains a conscious choice.
