Big feelings from a beloved voice: Soyou opened up in a recent YouTube video about struggling with her place in SISTAR, and as a long-time fan, my heart went out to her.

She admitted that even after debuting with the group she never felt completely at ease. Soyou said people usually thought of Hyorin, Bora, and Dasom first, and she felt like the member without presence. She recalled that the high point of her career was the hit song “Some,” which she said was the best moment of her life — it stayed at number one for 12 weeks and brought intense attention, even uncomfortable reactions from other agencies that made her feel anxious back then.
Nowadays Soyou describes her life as quieter and more ordinary: long workouts at the gym, slower days, but she appreciates that normalcy and calls it precious. She also mentioned that she expects a lucky period coming up and plans to try new things over the next few years.
Quick fan facts
- SISTAR debuted in 2010 under Starship Entertainment and was active until their disbandment in 2017.
- Members are Hyorin (often spelled Hyolyn), Bora, Dasom, and Soyou.
- “Some” was a massive 2014 hit for Soyou (a collaboration with Junggigo) and dominated Korean charts for weeks.
Hearing Soyou be so honest is a reminder of how tough fame can feel, even in the spotlight. Sending love to her as she enjoys quieter days and explores new paths.
