Schedule conflict
Red Velvet’s Joy was not able to perform with her band members for the concert held in Pyongyang, North Korea. Joy, who is currently filming for MBC drama ‘The Great Seducer’ had to miss the concert due to her drama filming schedule. Joy is acting as the main role of the drama.
Criticized
Joy’s lack of presence in such an important event has sparked a public outrage, as netizens blaming Red Velvet’s label SM Entertainment and also, MBC. Many demanded Red Velvet be taken off the performers’ list, but due to short notice that would be impossible. Still, the performance in Pyongyang could be one way to improve the relationship between South Korea and North Korea.
