The last episode aired yesterday
The second installment of K-Pop idol-making survival show ‘Produce 101’ came to an end yesterday. The show, aimed to debut 11 trainees from various companies, debuted I.O.I last year. The 11-member girl group disbanded after a year of promoting together, but Wanna One (with 11 boy members) will be promoting until December next year.
Debut date, members, and guests
Wanna One is set to release either a mini or full album early August this year. The center would be Kang Daniel, as he won the #1 spot. Other members include Hwang Minhyun, Lee Daehwi, and Park Jihoon. I.O.I members (except Yoojung and Sejeong) were also present during the final episode as special guests. Seventeen leader S.Coups was also spotted; perhaps cheering for former Pledis trainee Kim Samuel.
Controversy
The final episode wasn’t controversy-free, as viewers point out Mnet deliberately released the polling status mid-show. This caused the ranking to shift, and expected trainees failed to make it to the cut. Viewers are especially upset to see Kim Samuel and Kim Jonghyun’s ranking.
