‘Show Me The Money’ reigns over Korean music charts
Korea’s number one hip-hop survival show, ‘Show Me The Money’, proves its worth once again. Within an hour since their releases at 12 PM KST on August 5th, the songs have taken a firm hold on top 10 spots on the music charts. Song ‘n분의 1’ by Dynamic Duo team, for example, debuted on Melon at #2 and an hour later, has taken the #1 spot. The ZICO and Dean team is now sitting on the #2 spot with ‘요즘것들’. The show itself garnered popularity since its premiere in 2012.
Korea’s hype for hip-hop
While the show is now on its sixth season already, the public enthusiasm doesn’t look like it’d fade anytime soon. Following the show, Mnet has produced several others hip-hop oriented shows like, ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ and ‘High School Rapper’. Despite the cut-throat competition, aspiring rappers still flock to the audition venue- hoping to be the next Korean hip-hop sensation.
